Advanced Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Human Resource Management
The aim of the Advanced Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Human Resource Management is to develop professional knowledge and competence for HR and Personnel managers and senior specialists. The focus is primarily on strategic management of the HR function and its links to business strategy and operational matters alike. Skills development is an important element of the programme and will be integrated into the programme content. Students will also gain a deeper understanding in each of their chosen specialist areas.
The Advanced Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Human Resource Management is aimed primarily at:
- Personnel / HR Managers
- Specialists within HR wishing to broaden their generalist knowledge and skills
- HR Consultants
Course Outline - Certificate Level
The programme consists of all of the core modules plus a choice of two specialist modules:

- Leadership and management development
- Reward management
- Resourcing and talent management
- Employment law
Course Outline - Diploma Level
The programme consists of the following core and specialist modules:

- Investigating a business issue from a HR perspective
Specialist Modules:
- Reward management
- Resourcing and talent management
- Employment law
- Understanding and implementing coaching & mentoring
Mode of Delivery & Assessment
The Advanced Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma Programmes are delivered by blended learning. This means that there will be a combination of ways in which you will be studying.
Each programme comprises of four to eight modules, and for each module there are principal methods of study:
- Tutor led workshops delivered in blocks of seven full days per module. These will cover clear knowledge areas of the syllabus and aim to develop student's knowledge and understanding of the specific content area, develop function-specific skills and personal transferable skills. A range of teaching and learning methods will be employed throughout the programme, to include:
- Lectures
- Self-study activities
- Discussion of case studies and current news articles
- Student-led discussions and debate
- Problems and issues from the students' own workplaces
- Skills-based activities
- Student presentations
- Guided reading
- In addition, students will also be encouraged to work together outside of tutorial time, in what we call "action learning sets" in order to make the most of their studies and share knowledge and ideas with fellow students. In addition, students are expected to study for exams, carry out their own research and readings for assignments and achieve 600 independent learning hours with guidance given by the respective module Tutor on the subject matter under review. Students studying to Advanced Certificate level will be required to achieve 300 hours.
Students studying to Advanced Diploma level will receive approximately 600 hours of tutor-led study, in the form of lectures and workshops which are held over 7 days per module. Students studying to Advanced Certificate level will receive 300 hours.
Tutors will be available during class contact hours to provide support, address any concerns and provide feedback concerning your progress.
